Operations performed

Malignant Breast Disease

  •   Diagnostic biopsies – open or core biopsies
  •   Wide local excision – removal of cancer with margin of safety
  •   Mastectomy
  •   Axillary surgery – surgery to the lymph glands in the armpit to treat or stage breast cancer, usually part of WLE or mastectomy
  •   Therapeutic mammaplasty – reducing the breast size at the same time as removing the cancer, suitable for more generously proportioned women
  •   Partial mastectomy and latissimus dorsi volume replacement “miniflap” – suitable for women who need a larger amount of tissue removed from relatively small breasts, who wish to avoid mastectomy.
  •   Immediate reconstruction after mastectomy for cancer using subpectoral implants, implants plus       latissimus dorsi flap and autologous latissimus dorsi reconstruction.
  •   I do not deal with free flap surgery, free TRAM and DIEP flaps, and refer to my colleagues at Salisbury.
  •   Delayed breast reconstruction.
  •   Treatment of local recurrence of cancer
